Happy New Music Friday! For this particular entry, I am not only recommending the most recent single by a fascinating progressive rock band from France, but the entire debut EP today’s new single belongs to. Without further delay, let’s discuss Panem and their latest track, The Empty Man.
Panem is a band with a multitude of strong and captivating qualities, which include the following:
- Riffs you can’t get enough of
- Female-fronted band
- Killer vocals
- Meaningful lyrics
If any of the previous points are of any interest to you, look no further because Panem will most certainly be to your liking!
Panem’s debut single “Zeitgesit / Absolutely Monopoly”, released in September, 2020.
The Empty Man starts of with the intensity of a person begging to be heard. The angry riffs that give beginning to the song are complemented by Marie’s (lead vocal) strong voice and give strong ambience to the track. The energy is palpable in every instrument and the members behind them, building up and reaching its culmination during the outstanding guitar solo. The followup chorus helps to ease the listener into a smooth ending that makes one want to relive the entire experience.
Although “The Empty Man” is the final song in their EP, it is just as addicting as the rest of the track list. All the songs present a different side of Panem, whom desire to show all possible sides of them. This can be noticed simply by listening to a couple of the tracks, but listening to all the songs make for a worthy and complete experience.
- Zeitgeist / Absolute Monopoly
- Breath, Pretender
- Face Tomorrow
- Something I Don’t Know
- A Line in The Sand
- The Empty Man
To try to pin down Panem’s exact genre is as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack: they certainly achieve the open-mindedness they aim to deliver, as their music perfectly has that rock energy but does not feel bound to any style.
This debut work is both solid and very memorable. If you agree with the previous statement, don’t hesitate to show your support by following them on their official Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
