She Made Me Do It “Otherworldly”

Today we are glad to announce that New Wave- and electronica-inspired rock band She Made Me Do It have released a new single today, “Otherworldly,” from their upcoming 6-track EP of the same name to be released on March 5th.

She Made Me Do It are from London, United Kingdom, and are comprised of Shaheena Dax (Rachel Stamp) – Vocals, Bass, Keyboards; and Will Crewdson (Rachel Stamp, Adam Ant) – Guitar, Vocals, Keyboards. They are joined live by Joe Holweger (Adam Ant) on drums. Their Otherworldly E.P. was produced by Will Crewdson and mixed by John Mitchell.

Prior to this upcoming E.P., She Made Me Do It have released a few different E.P.s, such as 2020’s Scorched, which includes an excellent cover of The Cure’s “Three Imaginary Boys” (you can watch the music video for it here), and 2019’s Drenched. They have also released a full-length album in 2017 (The Frantic Legion), as well as several singles, including 2019’s “Fun and Games.”

As She Made Me Do It describe their new single, “‘Otherworldly’ is a kinetic, electronically charged rock anthem with heartfelt lyrics and a spacey feel, the main theme being the out of body experience of betrayal combined with the physical experience of numbness, pain, and heartbreak late into the night.”

True to its title, there is a wonderfully ethereal, dreamlike quality to “Otherworldly.” The bright keyboards on this track (reminiscent of 80s New Wave artists) immediately bring a pleasantly spacey, electronic sound to the song. At the same time, the keyboards juxtapose nicely with the haunting guitar melodies and sincere lyrics, complementing each other quite well. I especially appreciate how well the soaring vocals and distorted guitar chords balance each other during the anthemic chorus, showcasing She Made Me Do It’s inspired songwriting (as well as their excellent musicianship).

“Otherworldly” is quite an enjoyable listen throughout, and I would highly recommend this track to fans of New Wave and alternative rock alike. If you enjoy this track as well, be sure to check out She Made Me Do It’s upcoming E.P., also titled Otherwordly, to be released next month.
