Easymess “Out of Sight (Unplugged)”

Revamping a previous 2019 release, Easymess shines lights on a completely new side of a story we thought we already knew. Out of Sight (Unplugged) is a bittersweet experience heightened by its new sound.

Under the stage name of EasyMess, twenty-five year old Adrien Latgé creates introspective folk music that focuses on the highs and lows of life, realistically delivering brief moments of angst amidst the encouraging and hopeful messages. Latgé’s musical career started in 2015 when he still lived in France, but his move to London when he was twenty allowed him to meet more musicians, many of which would end up featuring in his 2017 EP “One Night Stand”, and effectively allowing him to delve deeper into his career.

For his debut as a (self) producer, Easymess is revisiting his 2019 track Out of Sight, a song that talks about the hope and slight hesitancy he felt upon moving to London five years ago. By altering removing the folk-pop sound and instead going for an acoustic guitar and velvety, raw vocals, the unplugged version of the song gives off a more emotional vibe — emphasizing how scary and exciting this step was.

Out of sight (Unplugged) gives EasyMess a chance to explore more of the acoustic folk and soulful arrangements he’s always been influenced by. As a fan of re-arrangements and b-sides with a darker mood than the original versions, it is only proper that he also gave it a try with one of his many emotional songs. Out of Sight, a song about a theme he often goes back to due to the impact it had in his life, was perhaps the best choice to do this; listeners now have access to the point of view of a youthful barely-adult who had just moved to a new country, as well as the perspective of a still young, but more mature Adrien Latgé who can now look back fondly at his previous self.

“It’s been in a lot of what I write about, the comparison between my home and my new home has always been there, but more than comparing places and people, or culture or language, it’s mostly been comparing who I felt I was in both places,” Easymess states about the theme of Out of Sight and Out of Sight (Unplogged).

Now that Easymess has revisited his quest for a new comfort zone and everything it’s led to, he is more than ready to introduce his upcoming EP, “Now It’s Yours”. The EP, due this spring, will tie the folk sound he’s been known for his more sentimental, intimate sound he also excels at.
