Sydney Australia’s Northern beaches are a picturesque piece of scenery with so much depth to it’s cultural and musical influence. Goldfish Smarts are no exception to this diverse set of tunes and their latest EP “Moonlight & the Music Shed” is an offering with tinges of Americana and Classic Rock throughout the project. Power chords, singled out guitar solo’s, driving melodies, and pure Pub Rock bliss are some of the descriptors that come to mind during a first listen and the range of styles really shows listeners what this band is truly capable of.
One of my favorite songs was “Butterfly Decal”, it brought imagery of wide open landscapes and road trips to no place in particular to mind. If you’re looking for a taste of some real rock and roll that won’t loose your attention, “Moonlight & the Music Shed” is the EP you need to hear.
“Everyone listens to music differently. Some listen carefully to lyrics and think of what they mean. Some are just looking for a beat. We focus on both and hope that first time listeners, whichever way they lean, will get what they are looking for in these 5 songs.”
“The lyrics are mostly written with specific intent where we hope everyone can find a connection. We draw on experiences and observations and we even ask some questions. The music is created with an objective to take the listener to a happy place, with melodies, harmonies and beats that scream homegrown music, destined to be played to a live audience.”
