In love with songwriting and storytelling, Aune presents a strong narrative that’s sure to tug at your heartstrings in her latest pop single, ‘self-conscious’.
Aune, byname Inês de Brito Pereira, is a singer-songwriter from Portugal. Having written songs since age fourteen, Aune decided to move to London in September of 2018 and there, start her degree in Songwriting and Music Production at the University of Hertfordshire. Two years later, in December of 2020, the artist released her first single and sincere ballad, ‘Dangerous’.
self-conscious is her next release and first of the year. By this point in time, Aune has realized that she finds more comfort and joy in creating pop music, and her aptitude for creativing simple but catchy melodies, which contrast nicely with her deep lyrics, has helped her create a bulletproof formula for an amazing song.

Aune’s soft, minimalistic instrumentals and mellow vocals are perfect for slowly getting into the rhythm and making you fall for her voice and music. In the case of self-conscious, the serene pacing and light instrumentation, with the occasional pop influences shining through, fits with the theme of the song.
As Aune sings about her anxieties and the need to be perfect over the upbeat pop music, her relatable but saddening lyrics slowly melt and become one with the listener and the artist. The song deals with the obsession over perfectionism and the fear of never being able to integrate yourself with society in a way that brings out the relatability of this anxiety without glorifying the struggle it inherently represents.
Aune’s songwriting skills allow for her music to be relatable to anyone dealing with this type of problems, making a catchy track out of them without diminishing how hard dealing with problems such as anxiety can be. And her creativity keeps growing and flourishing, it is a given that her music will be able to cheer and unite even more listeners from around the world.
More than anything, Aune is determined to make her listeners feel comforted and understood when they listen to her music. Regardless of the topic, she wants to be able to bring out the best in people and remind them that nobody is truly alone. Aune might be a star on the making, but she’s already healing anyone who gives her music a chance.
