Hot Shell Tribe – “Winner”

The sentiment of this track comes from running around Stockholm’s night club scene for years and becoming fed up with shallowness, fake friends and the corruption of the soul!” – Hot Shell Tribe. Coming up strong, Swedish music producer, Johan Rahmstrom is debuting his new project with a brand new single, “Winner“.

Anger, shallowness, lust, sin. Stockholm’s underworld brought Johan to despising the empty vessel of human criteria, where “winning” is all that gives value to an individual. “Winner” is an angry yell to all that is empty, cold and meaningless.

Johan Rahmstrom is an artist and music producer from Sweden who has just created an indie synth rock project called Hot Shell Tribe. His music can be compared to the likes of Depeche Mode, finding inspiration in New Wave and synth pop music from the 80s and 90s, mixing it up with a singer-songwriter approach. He is also known as the lead vocalist and producer of the New Romantic pop duo Sthlmiana.

’Winner’ deals with winning culture where everyone ends up a loser, how shallowness is next to godliness and the ”wear and tear” mindset where everyone is expendable and can be replaced. – Johan

A production of cold, distorted pianos, moody synths and weary vocals, “Winner” lets out all the anger and unconformity, all disguised in a downtempo electronic vibe, with plucky synths, white noise risers and oscillating arpeggios. Dynamic and groovy, “Winner” is a perfect fit for anyone searching for a song to vibe to, while letting a bit of anger out at the same time.

“The song ‘Winner’ is about shallowness and lack of soul. But also about the allure of superficiality, and how it can feel good to be an asshole”, says Johan.

Hot Shell Tribe will be releasing an EP titled “Panorama Fading” and it’ll be released the 4th of June. The music will range from dark/hard synth to more sweeter sounds, like a piano ballad. Always with the vocal and lyrics in sharp focus.

There’s some anger in the song, and that anger is also directed inward. At the same time, I wanted it to have a kind of catchy chorus, reflecting the feeling of triumph. Even though it’s an empty triumph.” – Johan.
