Mirabilia “Kind Lion”

We’re glad to announce that Morrison, United States-based indie/alternative rock band Mirabilia have released a new single, entitled “Kind Lion.”

Mirabilia are Evan Atherton (guitar and vocals), Collin Wolf (guitar), Clay Sibley (bass), Levi Jones (keys), and Austin Korth (drums). They got together during the middle of the pandemic in late 2020, when Evan began gathering members whom he thought would be able to come together and create music that has heart and energy. As each member of the band has their own main musical inspirations, Mirabilia are influenced by an eclectic range of artists, including Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers, Frightened Rabbit, and other bands that span many different genres and sonic landscapes.

Mirabilia strive to create music that not only has heart and energy, but also that can help people; the members of the band believe that words can have a lot of impact in today’s world, and that sometimes all it takes is a few words that speak to someone to make a difference. They share a quote by Robin Williams, which resonates strongly with Mirabilia’s vision: “No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”

Mirabilia have released two singles in late 2020 with their friend Tucker in Morrison, IL; and have just recently recorded two new songs to be released in 2021 with Vince from Swift Road Studios in Arlington Heights (a suburb of Chicago, IL). Mirabilia were also featured on a Studio A Session in December of 2020 (produced by WNIJ), as well as on a radio interview with 107.7 WQUD that shared the first two songs that Mirabilia recorded in December of 2020.

Mirabilia’s new single, “Kind Lion,” has been a work in progress since the inception of the band in late 2020; and regarding the inspiration behind the song, Evan says, “I wrote Kind Lion when I was in a bit of a negative mindset about where I’m at as a musician versus where I want to be. It’s about overcoming this lost, anxious feeling and reminding myself as long as I’m trying, I’m where I’m supposed to be.

“Kind Lion” immediately draws the listener in with a pleasantly catchy opening guitar riff, which is punctuated by the bass and drums. As the vocals join in during the first verse, they harmonize nicely with the palm-muted guitar chords, while buzzing keyboards add an electronic dimension to the track. From the anthemic choruses to a reflective keyboard interlude towards the end of the track, “Kind Lion” is an engaging and highly enjoyable listen. I would definitely recommend this track to fans of indie- and alternative rock alike.
