The warm summer nights of California. Those who have experienced it are lucky, but for those who haven’t, there’s a new song that’s able to take you on a small trip and show you what it feels like. Put on your headphones or turn on the speakers and allow yourselves to be taken on a journey led on by Ollie Olson!
Some of you might recognize his name from perhaps reading credits on album sleeves or from news. This artist is a Swedish Platinum-selling mixing engineer and Grammy-nominated songwriter. Names like Robyn, Tupac, Ice-T, the Bee Gees and Lady Sovereign and many more have all worked with Olson, getting the magic of their sound polished under his watchful eyes. Considering his busy and rich background, this man knows what it takes to make a good tune. Also, after a long time of producing for others, it’s only natural for someone like him to start thinking about writing something of his own. And that’s exactly why this writeup exists!
Before I’ll get to the song, I should mention Ollie Olson has lived in California in his earlier years – he went to LA to study acting, but ended up working as a studio engineer. 90’s West Coast hiphop scene and that Californian energy influenced him during his formative years and molded him into who he is today. To this day he cherishes this location and that’s why this song was born.
Titled “Southern California Summer Nights“, this new single is Olson’s first song as a solo artist in 13 years. This song is his love-letter to Southern California and the special kind of atmosphere that exists only there, and you can hear it the moment this song starts. Shimmering notes and his warm and cheerful vocals give off cheerful and catchy vibes, the kind of warm memories full of sunshine and warm days. The melody played by the sax is especially soaring, giving a clear image of living in a dream, living life to the fullest and enjoying every single day.
This song is guaranteed to brighten up even the greyest day with this burst of positivity and bright memories bursting from the speakers, no doubt about that. A sparkling pop tune that will carry you through the day and put a smile on your face!
