Meeking “All In”

We’re glad to announce that Bath, United Kingdom-based alternative rock band Meeking have released a new single, entitled “All In.”

Meeking are Jake Meeking (guitars and vocals), Daniel Longmire (bass), and Glenn Hampson (drums). They’ve been playing together in many different forms, beginning at their school in 2004, and are musically inspired by the alt rock scene of the ‘00s (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Kings of Leon, etc.) as well as by old classics like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Jimi Hendrix.

Originally hailing from Glastonbury, Meeking soaked up the local scene and have played a few Glastonbury festival slots over the years, as well as playing other notable shows including Concert at the Kings, Godney Gathering and Bath Music Festival. After going separate directions after Uni age, the members of Meeking eventually rejoined to create music again. Meeking released their album, I Am Because We Are, in 2017 (as well as an acoustic version of the album in 2019), which was followed by their 2020 EP, Hello Mind.

Recorded at Stage 2 Studios Bath, Meeking’s latest single, “All In,” was produced, mixed and mastered by Josh Gallop (Phoxjaw) and released on Rokana Records. Lyrically, “All In” and its follow up single coming later this month, “Taking Hits”, are about perseverance. “All in” is about trying to pull someone out and saving them from themselves–telling them that you’re all in and committed to helping; and the theme bleeds through to the artwork and to the follow up single. “All In is a song that came together throughout lockdown. It’s a song for our time about persevering and looking out for one another. The follow up single Taking Hits speaks of the same theme and the artwork is intertwined,” the band writes.

For first time listeners, the band says, “… you should expect passionate, hard hitting alt rock. Not just another ‘rock ballad.’ We try to keep things musically and lyrically interesting for us and you guys. These songs mean something to us and there is a theme that runs through most of our releases. So enjoy All In and its follow up, Taking Hits, and take a look back through the catalogue. Hello Mind EP is another ‘Lockdown Banger!’

“All In” begins with a creatively intense electric guitar melody, while the dynamic rhythms of the drums and bass soon join in, underscoring the guitar work quite well. As the vocals enter during the first verse, they complement “All In”’s melodic passages nicely, while adding a sense of urgency suitable to the lyrical themes that the track conveys. Two-thirds of the way through, a reflective instrumental section explores more atmospheric guitar textures, before bringing the listener back into the track’s compelling chorus. “All In” is quite an enjoyable listen, highlighting Meeking’s inspired songwriting and excellent musicianship; I would highly recommend this track to fans of alternative rock.
