Cindy-Lousie encourages listeners to ‘Rise Up’ and face adversity against all odds for, as the chorus of her new indie-rock single says, you’re not alone.
With 2019 marking the start of her solo artist career, Cindy-Lousie has been making the most out of that time. In the span of almost two years, the South-African born singer has been featured in different media outlets — namely Huisgenoot magazine, News24 LifeStyle, and the radio station Jacaranda FM. Counting with over two thousand monthly listeners on the global platform Spotify, the artist has been captivating people with her debut album HUMANITY and the single’s that have come after it.
Rise Up, her fourth single of 2021, was released on the fifth of August, and shows a side of Cindy-Louise that can be described in the same way as her voice: incredibly powerful and commanding.

As someone whose discography is a blend of indie pop and rock music, Cindy-Louise has a strong understanding of how to unite these different sounds in order to create a cohesive and pleasant melody. Alongside her vocals, which contain the appealing charm of pop singers and the defiance of a rockstar, Rise Up is evidence of how far Cindy-Louise has come since the beginning of her career.
Embodying the concept of a song is something not everyone can achieve, even when they’re the ones who wrote the song. Fortunately, that is not the case in this situation. Cindy-Louise wears the lyrics and meaning of this song like a second skin, and the strength behind her belief is felt from the moment her voice reaches the listener’s ears. She infuses her naturally charismatic energy and pumps it twofold into the song, making it feel like a punch to the gut that, instead of leaving you kneeling in pain, passes that energy onto you and gives you all of its strength.
Rise Up is a song about refusing to give up. There to lift you back onto your feet during moments of weakness, and there to celebrate any achievements with you. In the same way the lyrics repeat that no one is ever alone, the song is there to become your companion for those times where you feel truly alone. It’s a song that does not condemn weakness and allows the listener to be sad, as long as you have the determination to get back up and walk further into the life path of your choice.
