Week 39 2021 Hi y’all here I’m with another round of 9 Albums/EPs you should listen to released all of them recently (if you want you can take a look to our previous week here).
.- Jacqueline Loor Show Them Debut Album. A great force of inspiration, it’s the project of bringing light into the darkness of people suffering from unhealthy relationships. A beacon of empowerment, care and compassion and, ultimately, an understanding presence. Sometimes you simply need someone who knows how you feel. You can read our review here.
.- Robert Vendetta All By His Handsome Self. Is a concept album that tells the story of the highs and lows of a relationship, transversing through different emotions: excitement, happiness, hope, disappointment and sadness. Vendetta allows himself to change genres with each song, from classical music, love power ballads to tropical disco tunes, each song transforms according to the dominating emotion of the track. You can read our review here
.- FiveSidedDice Confession Tapes 2 reflects on the need for honesty and transparency, especially in music and art as catharsis. It is an attempt at brutal honesty at face value, trying to become a vehicle for self-growth and changing by raw expression of the inner self. The EP also touches on mental health with regards to social alienation and isolation, insomnia, inner insecurities, introspection, and eventually gratitude and love. You can read our review here
.- Louis and the Shakes How Badly Do You Want it? In their own words “There is a concept behind this album. We didn’t want to just put 12 high octane songs out there. Each song has a meaning and is relevant to the story that unfolds, so there’s more to it than meets the ear…for us, the title is significant to what we were experiencing as a band during the recording of this album. It was more of a rhetorical question to ourselves, and for anyone listening – if you really want something, go out and get it.” You can read our review here for the track Losing My Mind.
.- agne_b A+ In her own word “As resources were limited, this project took quite a long time to put together and finalise, however, I believe that it was worth the time as it helped me find motivation and complete a selection of songs that are very close to my heart. These tracks tie some of the biggest events and emotions experienced throughout the last 10 years of my life. From feelings of heartbreak and jealousy to mental health issues, suicide, and grief, which is highlighted in ‘Hurricanes’ that I’ve written as a tribute to my grandfather who died from cancer 6 years ago.” We have a couple of these tracks reviewed here for you le† mE GO and Pasiklausyk
.- AVONDCOCK SENSA Debut EP In their own words: “SENSA is our very first call to arms so to say. We made EP in short period over a month after we met. It tackles personal issues and global issues. The titles or subjects might be a bit shocking but we want to spread a message of activation.”
.- Moody Jr. Songs From Youth. Debut Album. In his own words: “This album is a reflection on the past. It was an effort to try and make some sense of the way life unfolded in my childhood, and develop a deeper understanding of who I am. I was coming from a string of chaotic relationships and realized there were currents that were pulling on me that I didn’t truly understand. This album is about unearthing myself and becoming more aware of who I am.
- Atlas//Anon Melancholia “It’s a dark, heavy and emotional journey with themes of depression, oppression and feeling trapped. For fans of heavy, witchhouse, wave music and ethereal music.”
.- Anjali Rose Shadow Works “For Anjali, songwriting, recording, mixing, and mastering has helped her garner a sense of self empowerment in a world that is still oppressive for women, queers, and mixed race people. Many songs reflect on past trauma, break ups, and questions regarding sense of self. It seems that these songs and the solo touring that went before, during, and after them have been a journey of self discovery for Anjali to learn how to understand her experiences and trust their artistry. Anjali hopes that by deepening her understanding of music and crafting beautiful albums, other women and non binary artists will also find the confidence to share their brilliance with the world.”
