Folk songs will always hold a special place in our hearts, but few of them warm our souls and send good vibes like today’s new single. “Sweet & Sour“, the most recent release by collaborating duo Chucky Trading Co, is sweeter than a sour tune that’s ready to lift you up as soon as you hit that play button.
We as artists sometimes write songs for hypothetical, fictional persons, sometimes maybe even a hypothetical lover. The risk here is when your actual, non-fictional lover listens to such a song for the first time. Things could go south really quickly! “Sweet & Sour” is about the emotions that follow and the love that persists.
A collaboration between songwriter CS Taber and producer Everett Young that delivers soft-spoken thought-provoking Folk-Rock music. Bright acoustic guitars shed light with pleasing melodies and clever chord changes, the swinging drums set the laid-back groove and the clever lyrics and soft singing tell us the story.
Unique to say the least. I can only imagine, picturing myself in a situation like that as a musician. “You left the party furious / You had chili pepper eyes / I have to say I’m curious/ Should I look for a ride?” Definitely a scenario you want to avoid!
The changes of the song are soothing and smooth, the middle chorus accompanied by the choir-like female vocals give the song a bright and vibrant vibe that finishes making this single a tremendously good song.
Not much to add but that I’d been listening to this song on repeat, such a great job by this dynamic do. Also, this is the second single off of CTC’s first album, released December 1, 2021, which contains 15 heartfelt songs that explore love, life, and human nature.
