The “Galaxy Shores” EP is a Psychedelic trip amongst synth waves and electronic shores. Blending the analog with the digital this new upcoming artist delivers soft, dreamy vibes with a lot of groove. Fans of Tame Impala, stick around!
As we reach to the end of January, this mind-bending EP makes its way through a variety of Psychedelic playlists on Spotify. Released in January 21, this EP’s songs have already gathered more than 10,000 plays in a very short time!
No wonder, as “Galaxy Shores” is as delightful as a Sunday afternoon, as lush as a Lemon ICEE, and as trippy as Rick And Morty. This collection of 7 songs includes a selection and variety of synths, energetic drums, and echoing guitars, time and place lose meaning the more you dive into them.
New artist, Josh Herren discovered his musical skills thanks to the pandemic. Founding himself with nothing to do and feeling as if his days were being wasted, he decided to give music a shot. The result was the release of three singles in 2021: I Guess It’s Time, Another Day, and Sphallolalia.
Heavily influenced by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Josh dove into the Psychedelic genre and quickly managed to learn music production skills, it wasn’t long until Josh started to record his own sounds and create his own home studio.
“Everything really came together over quarantine. I never thought I’d ever make music of my own, but being in a place where I had nowhere to go and nothing to do, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to give it a shot. Using the friends I had around me and a lot of YouTube, I began to teach myself how to use Ableton live, eventually learning how to track all live instruments and do the entire process from recording to mastering.” – Josh Herren
As Josh puts it, Galaxy Shores is a collection of sonic journal entries, where he uses emotions such as love, loss, and loneliness, to bring to life the sonic material that portrays his feelings at the time.
There is far too much to say about each song as they all hold unique passages, lengths, vibrations, and energies, so I’ll leave it to you to discover the “digital beach” that Josh has brought to us. But I will say this, the whole thing is a very immersive experience. Excellent debut!
“For any first-time listeners, I hope you can get swept away. Music has brought me so much joy and taken me so many places, helped me through various seasons of life, both positive and negative, and I just want to pass that experience onto others as much as I can. God has blessed me with the ability to create and in turn, I want to use that gift to bless others. If you can feel a sense of escape, getting lost in the melodies, sounds, or lyrics, then that’s all I can ask for. 🙂” – Josh Herren
