E.W. Harris “Hammerhands”

Whether it’s times of the past so distant there’s little to nothing left from that time, or the future of an unknown kind, the inhabitants of both times experience love in the same sort of way. This song you’re about to hear takes us to the dystopian future to tell the story of one lonely alien.

Whether it’s the name of the particular alien, well it’s not their real name rather than something they’re called. But the song is titled “Hammerhands” and it comes along as a lone folk song dipped in influences of lofi, pop and soul. It paints a vivid image of heavy feelings – sorrow, longing and lovesickness which all follow the song’s character through their days. It’s a love song of a very lonely creature, who has nothing else in their life than their job as an executioner, which sometimes feels like the most defining thing about them. Very heavy, but so incredibly universal feelings, highlighting that love (or the emotions coming from lack of it) unite all from the beginning of times to the end.

For E.W. Harris, the folk-twinged song was the first coming up from his forthcoming LP “Homunculus IV”. The Brooklyn-based artist-songwriter and producer weaves emotionally rich genre-crossing songs as a self-styled folktronicist and dystopian romantic. There is eloquence and tenderness in how this artist handles emotions that form the basis of his songs, and coupled with absolutely splendid instrumentation and his wonderful voice, the songs become captivating and nuanceful stories with a timeless feel embedded within.

“Hammerhands”, lovingly co-produced with award-winning producer and engineer Kia Eshghi, is OUT NOW!!!
