Hello my friends! And welcome back to your favorite music blog. I’m MadZen and today we have a very, very cool track for all of you. Inspired by a no-longer president and recent riot events in the USA Capitol, “Birdman” delivers a great satire about a little man with a Napoleon complex.
Ok guys, so, SRVR go back a long way but this is their first single release before their upcoming album drops. SRVR stands for the initials of both their names: Sidney Rivers and Vincent Rouge. Rivers plays bass, backing vocals, piano, and anything that shakes; and Vincent plays guitars, vocals, and piano. Oh, and they both love Bowie.
“Birdman” is a low-tempo track with a Delta Blues base. Tight drums, solid piano notes, powerful claps and a fat round bass give this track such a deep, bluesy feeling that will make your head bob. Inspired by the movie Birdman, the single parallels themes such as delusion, ego and blurred reality which resonate with the Trump-era politics.
This is not the only single SRVR have in store for us, as they plan to release a song per month until their album comes out in early 2023. It actually took them almost two years to write, record, and mix the whole album due to lockdowns and the birth of Vincent’s first son! Most songs were written and demo’d by Vincent at home, before recording and mixing sessions at 123 Studios, London with Rob Wilks (Foals, Lianne la Havas, Florence and the Machine). No wonder the track sounds so great!
Please note that the single will be available for streaming until September 14th, but in the meantime, you can delight with the music video made by Vincent himself.
