The Dolls Are Good “126”

Many of my favourite artists speak fondly of the infectiously vibrant UK underground scene, the foundation from which many of the great inspirations and new sounds have emerged from. It’s a great joy to dive back into that era, and this time we’re invited to come enjoy the bursting UK junglist sounds and much more through the lens of an artist very much inspired by all of that. The artist is The Dolls Are Good, and he has a new single about to drop.

¡ORDER NOW!

Full of airy vocal slices, fuzzy atmosphere and breaks softened by the tape hiss, “126” is a retro-inspired tune that feels like it’s coming straight from the bustling fast-developing UK d&b era in the 80’s and 90s. It’s busy with lots of elements from all over the place, yet it stays perfectly coherent and brings on a chilled hypnotic vibe, something that feels perfect for any late-night activity. It inspires to visualize the busy life that takes place after the sun has set, lit by the streetlights and neon signs, but like any good instrumental track, “126” will soundtrack your own journey just as perfectly.

Hailing from Canada, The Dolls Are Good is a musical alias of Nadeem Akhtar, a filmmaker, and producer originally from Northern England. Growing up, the young artist got to experience the waves of emerging scenes first-hand. Inspired, he soon found himself experimenting with the sounds and compositions of UK jungle, spending any and all spare cash he had on records, as well as part-time DJ’ing. The Dolls Are Good is a new project of his, built onto that excitement and all in to bridge the past with whatever comes in the future. Retro futuristic by nature, The Dolls Are Good brings the best of those hypnotic sounds into the day today.

“126” will be released on January 27th. Pre-save it now, especially if you’re a fan of some great jungle brks!
