What’s goin’ on my dear friends, welcome back! It’s me, MadZen, and today is a day to bask in the most recent release from the International trio, mUmbo. A song that transcends time and space, with a language easy to understand. Blue is its color, warm the breeze, and sweet the taste. Let’s get to it!
Sky is Blue is a song about the human condition and the wider world, -a desire to escape what holds us back and to reach for a blue sky with brand new starts and perspectives.
After releasing their last track Rollin’ Over, mUmbo, the Alternative Rock Band based between the UK and Italy have just dropped their 5th single and 1st release of the year (and my favorite yet). In “Sky Is Blue”, the trio explores the permutations, atmosphere, and textures of vocals, guitars, and drums/percussion with a sonic pallette ranging from ethereal, chilled soundscapes to guitar-driven modern blues/rock and psychedelic progressive rock.
A track that comes to mind is “Planet Caravan” by Black Sabbath. Sharing similar ethereal/jazzy elements, and soft vocals. Lyrics are beautiful, poetic, and positive, warming our spirits and hearts with a slow drum beat, and the exquisite melodies and trippy tones of the electric guitars.
