ettie’s new single “Miserable Life”

It is an absolute joy to be talking about an artist that is very beloved to us here. ettie is back with a brand new single titled “Miserable Life”, her first new song of 2023. And, once again, it’s an amazing song featuring all that she’s best at.

After the release of her anticipated debut EP Manic Pixie Dream Girl and a few other incredible singles like “Until I Met U” and “I’m Sorry to My Exes”, the English singer and songwriter is at it again with her on-brand style of pop punk and emo that sounds fun and simple.

The production of “Miserable Life” makes her music sound richer and fuller than before, with a very strong bridge and memorable guitar riffs and melodies. Her vocals sound more mature as well, and it suits her perfectly. On this song ettie’s sound goes further into pop-punk territory in the same way that Pale Waves did on their second album: it’s nostalgic in a way that still makes it sound fresh and new and exciting.

“Miserable Life” is a revenge song, of sorts. You know when someone goes out of their way to make your life more difficult for whatever reason? In “Miserable Life”, ettie’s facing that exact situation and her response is to wish the exact same thing for the other person. It’s fun from start to finish and features lyrics such as ‘I hope you drop your keys down the drain but you still see them through the cracks‘ and it’s absolutely and simply brilliant!

ettie is a rare gem. She makes music that isn’t afraid to be fun, and still finds a way to grow and mature her sound and songwriting while she does it. ettie is the queer pop punk icon that we needed.
