The British act Fond of Rudy is back with a new piece of sweet music called “22”. Following the comeback single “How Do I Delete You?“, the indie pop band continues on the theme of love and all it entails. This time it’s a heartfelt shout-out to the young and inexperienced on the way to building their first proper relationships.

Delving into the chaotic trials and tribulations of young love, “22” highlights the blessings and curses of starting a new relationship and the forging of new experiences through accidents. The twenties, especially the first half of them, come with hopeful eyes, but no experiences especially in the realm of relationships. Those early twenties’ hopes and dreams build up the song with sky-high melodies and spiral hand-in-hand with the pain of rejection and the natural fear of making mistakes.
Fond of Rudy has tackled that emotional kaleidoscope quite eloquently and given it a really fitting sound. Soaring choruses, descriptive lyrics that are on point, shimmering vibrant synth melodies, and a high tone all describe the anticipations and fears really well. Rejection hurts really bad, but “22” keeps a positive tone, reminding us that this is just a new experience to be learned from. Thus, “22” becomes a solid anthem for the inexperienced seeking true love.
“22” is the second single to come from Fond of Rudy’s upcoming EP called “Two”.
