British composer, S J Denney, makes his first attempt at a Halloween song in “Witch’s Brew”. A cinematic and jazzy mixture of beautiful and interesting melodies that seem taken out of a Tim Burton film.

S.J Denney is a musician from Benfleet, UK. Since a young age, he has been in contact with music, falling in love with it when he stumbled upon vinyl copies of The Beatle’s White Album and Neil Young’s Harvest. A choir boy at first, the artist later embarked on the mission of learning music theory, acoustic guitar, and even clarinet.
“Witch’s Brew” is his upcoming single where all of his past learning comes together to create a wonderful masterpiece. The track, ironically, was inspired by a Christmas song, but the result is far from jolly. The single is a beautiful waltz led by a double bass line, mysterious vocals, and a wide range of instruments including tárogató and the piccolo trumpet.
Every note was scored by Denney himself, and it truly sounds like a track taken out of the cinema. With a classical and jazz influence, the song flows with a relaxed pace, a 1 2 3 beat that makes the listener mindlessly sway. Vocals are highly pitched, with witch-themed lyrics, and magically spooky choirs.
