While the original song is a loud and intense rock affair, Evol Walks now explores the darkness through the lens of acoustic rock. The result is a haunting experience of the steep emotional abyss – “Sleeping with a Ghost” reimagined on the darkest of nights.

The rowdy energy and riff-driven sound are absent by choice, as Evol Walks reveals there’s a similarly endless potency in much less. “Sleeping with a Ghost”, now built up by acoustic guitar and the soul-stirring violin surrounding the enigmatic, strong, and emotional voice, still hits just as hard, if not even more. It’s a cinematic, outstanding, and even elevating reclamation of independence from the abusive relationship surrounded by bitter notes recalling the hopeless nature of this connection.
That incredible voice belongs to Leah Martin-Brown, the creative mind of Evol Walks. This reimagination was born out of a desire to make the same story hit its listeners in a whole different way. The presence of the violin in the track serves an integral part in the birth of the reimagination – Leah was inspired by a beach scene from “Queen of the Damned”, where Lestat plays the violin.
So the spacious and relatively minimal sound is home to a whole world of dark emotions resulting from a shattered state of constantly being a life vest for someone else. The original tears you apart almost physically, but this reimagination does the same on a highly intimate, emotional level. This powerful tune also serves as a taste of an upcoming EP soon to come from Evol Walks!
