Being able to create music is such a wonderful gift, but making music with your own daughter must be a real blessing! Norwegian artist, Mono Martian is one of those blessed people. Together with his daughter, they have created a wonderful cover that would most definitely have Kurt’s, Dave’s, and Krist’s blessing.
“The way Nirvana delivered their music, how Kurt sang and expressed the lyrics really struck a chord with me. Feeling like a “misfit” at times is something I believe most young people can relate to. Listening to Nirvana made me feel that it is ok to feel that way.“
Iris Stardust
“Come As You Are” comes as a very different version from the original. With a slow rhythm and mellow mood, the duo opens up the track with a softly strung acoustic guitar carried by a steady drum beat and a beefy bass. Stardust’s vocals are tender, youthful, and softly sung, breathing new life into the song.
The track evolves into a more ethereal complex when the chorus hits, with big vocal harmonies that appear in the stereo field, and sneaky synths that play the iconic original melody from Kurt’s guitar. We are soon enough entangled in a beautiful soundscape of laid-back grooves and charming melodies, putting us in a kind of trance.
