“The star imagery stuck with me when writing. It’s about letting and allowing yourself to move forward unencumbered by regrets/fears/sadness/mistakes of the past. I pictured someone floating through the cosmos and tried to make that image more grounded/universal/relatable.”

“It’s easy to understand why I was inspired to write this song. The plague of school shootings is an evil that we can’t seem to stop let alone curtail. Everyone is busy politicizing the issue & pointing fingers instead of reaching across the aisle to develop solutions. I believe we play a part in making our own Frankensteins through the world we’ve created. Over 175 have died in school shootings since Columbine. As a society, we are failing our children and each other…we are all falling off the merry-go-round.”

COMA BEACH “Jesus’ Tears”. Released Jun 16th, 2021
Shock, chaos, pain, rage, and isolation: These are the thematic cornerstones of Coma Beach’s music. The very title of their debut album, The Scapegoat’s Agony, an ominous-sounding allusion to Samuel Beckett’s literary works, already bears the haunting promise of a highly unusual experience. Lurking behind it all, there is a clear-eyed artistic vision rather than a generic punk
rock album…

“Jesus’ Tears”, laying out its position (track #7) as well as its function in the story told on our album “The Scapegoat’s Agony”:
“In his delirious state of madness, the unnamed antihero [= The Scapegoat] suffers through a Christ-like crucifixion, vowing to avenge himself on those he deems responsible for his suffering.”
