Marina Bennett “Wandering Naked”. Released November 03rd

Love always requires trust but what happens when you lose grasp of your mind and it takes a wander down anxiety lane?  “Wandering Naked” explores how vulnerable and disempowering it can feel to wonder if someone is straying from you when you’ve given them your heart and trust.  I was very attached to someone in my past and sought after love and connection externally when really I needed to give love to myself who needed healing internally.

I never like to feel out of control, and this song captures what it felt like to be trapped in my own jealous mind with no escape.  I needed to express the emotions that were boiling up inside me and create what it felt like to have racing obsessive thoughts, jealousy and anxiety and how challenging it can be to feel raw and powerless to the behaviour of someone else you care about when you’re in a new relationship.

ORDER “WANDERING NAKED” ON BANDCAMP NOW!

For listeners finding my music for the first time, I want them to know that they’re not alone in their emotions and my hope is to find ways to express my vast array of life experiences through song to help others find the words or feelings they don’t necessarily know how to express. I’m a highly sensitive person, and I have many sides of my personality–dark and light.

I think in society these days we’re often pressured to brand ourselves as one specific thing and stay that way, but I have come to accept that I/we are multifaceted and evolving all of the time. I want people to embrace their hearts more and listen to them. Celebrate the highs and the lows and find that sense of connection and love for yourself, even when you’re healing and not at your best.

It’s okay to feel life, to dive in and take it and find what you’re passionate about. It’s also okay to grieve the things we lose along the way. Through writing “Wandering Naked” I took emotions like jealousy and obsession that I was ashamed to feel and found a way to alchemize the out of control feelings into a song. That’s why I’m a songwriter because that process to me is magic, and it can take my most vulnerable state and turn it into something that makes me feel powerful and brave again no matter how raw I feel inside.

Maddy Storm “Last Halloween” Released October 27th

Maddy Storm makes unapologetic pop, blurring the boundary between contemporary hyperpop and something undefinably grittier – something with teeth and an almost industrial edge. Her songs invade the mind and confidently bed themselves in the memory, unafraid to launch into consecutive explosive hooks. Single-handedly written, recorded, produced, and mixed by Maddy in her bedroom, ‘Last Halloween’ is an assured tour de force combining elements of hyper-pop and trap, proving that she is carving out her own spectacular and unique lane within pop music.

“This song predicted the end of my 8-year relationship (am I psychic?). ‘Last Halloween’ is a cathartic anthem about feeling lost in your 20s, it’s about mental health (and my lack thereof), and being scared of being a burden to those you love and not knowing how to fix it; it’s 3 a.m. notes from a people pleaser. Writing this song helped me realize that self-sabotage can be followed by growth.”

Petra Jasmiina “Summer Dress”. Released October 27th

Petra Jasmiina’s newest release “Summer Dress” is a story of love, loss, and the bittersweet beauty in fleeting things. Written on her NYC rooftop, the song takes us to the golden city of Manhattanhenge and its balmy summer nights, restless streets, and dark corners. Summer Dress depicts the end of summer and romance, but also that of innocence, walking a fine line between love and lust, heaven and hell, darkness and light. This is the third single, or as the artist calls it, Chapter III, of Petra Jasmiina’s upcoming album, expected in 2024.

“This is one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written. I’m immensely proud of its poetic lyrics that paint such a visceral world around them, one of a balmy summer city with delicious duality between soft and dark, romantic and brutal, heavenly and hellish, just like a whirlwind summer romance with an inevitable ending. I wrote, recorded, and produced this track myself. “

GHOSTFOX “Dark Dreams”. Released October 23rd

Fans of the electronic rock and metal genre will enjoy this album. It invokes a dark aesthetic that draws on good parts from a variety of genres. There is an almost cyberpunk or future vibe, with lots of energy. Elements from EDM, rock/metal, and even a bit of future synth bring a unique sound.

It’s a fusion of styles, similar to The Prodigy or The Crystal Method. It’s high-energy music with a bit of a future feel—something great to listen to while you’re gaming. But there’s also a personal expression to it. It’s representative of my own life’s experiences and dealing with the trauma of severe loss. Sometimes an event is so traumatic that you can’t even escape it in your dreams.

So this album explores the chaos, the fears, and the feelings that break into our dreams from the subconscious mind.

Remi Charles “Succession”. Released October 20th

Remi Charles returns with a single that breaks shackles and transcends to heavenly heights. In his dark soul genre, Charles celebrates becoming what you were always meant to be—the light that beams in the dark.

This is undoubtedly the most upbeat of Charles’ releases so far. Equipped with a signature sound and percussive textures, his performance is dynamic, and empowering, with hints of influence ranging from James Blake to Michael Jackson. ‘Succession’ is a gripping experience.

“About Love” is part of NO SWEETS FOR E, the newest album released by ARN-IDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS AND ALIEN FRIENDS in May 2023. Is a pop-oriented rock ballad with a vibe of the late sixties or early seventies, and is in its heart a song about love and loss, and the passing of time.

This song – the second on the album NO SWEETS FOR E. – is tale of passion and loss, about regret and love that “never was”. There’s a vibe of the late sixities here, though the harmonies might make you think of the Kinks, rather than the Beatles.
