Musically this fits with Gary Dranow’s previous work and layers classic, blues-based rock of artists like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn with touches of 80’s metal, 90’s alternative rock and just plain kick ass rock n’ roll like your dad’s best friend’s college roommate’s uncle’s neighbor loves!

The song starts with just guitar and powerful rich vocals followed by drums to add to the urgency until the iconic line “Liberty’s Keepers in silence amused” and then the distortion kicks in to underscore the anger and frustration felt by those of watching the chaos in what used to be The Party of Lincoln. The chorus is big and definitely has that huge 80’s arena rock that takes me back to my youth when I’d see bands like Aerosmith, Extreme or The Rolling Stones.
It closes out the song by letting go of the distortion while maintaining all the visceral righteous indignation and disdain. It’s like it works you up and then slowly lets the anger release.
For anyone who follow is an American political junkie like me (I not only have my BA in political science, I also spent 15 years as a social studies teacher focusing on civics and U.S. history, and I’m now getting my PhD in social studies education), this song speaks the plain and simple truth. The elected representatives in today’s Republican party have decided keeping political power in their party is more important than serving their constituents or protecting the Constitution.
So, if you dig well-crafted rock music played with soul and vigor and can relate to song that would make supporters of Trump (especially the seditious rabble that stormed the capital on January 6th) and his Big Lie want to scream, then this song is for you. I know that I’ll have it in my regular rotation for a long time to come.
