Singer Songwriter Rob Gaylard relocated home to Sydney Australia in February 2022 after 5 years as a regular feature of the New York City indie rock scene and recorded New Horizons with Dan Frizza in Sydney at Forbes Studios. The Nomadic is the best of Aussie rock talent, with Miles Thomas (Lior, Ronan Keating, Montaigne) on drums, Oliver Thorpe (The Whitlams, Matt Corby, Meg Mac) on guitar, and Brendan Clark (Meg Mac, Montaigne, Jack River) on bass. Dan Frizza as producer lends the kind of magic touch that has seen him enrich the work of the likes of Tones & I, King Princess, and Gurrumul.
Treading water is a song of narrative and storytelling and explores the themes of being ‘stuck’ (“pressure’s building to a crescendo. I can feel myself going insane”). The chorus encapsulates the tension at the heart of the song “spend a lifetime treading water… trying to gently float to shore. do what you gotta. Do what you outta”.
Order Of Owls “What Becomes” Released January 29th.
“What Becomes is not based on an opinion. Rather, it is an observation of the rigid mentality that may potentially take place in today’s social structure if we continue on the current path. The song is not designed to make the listener think one way or the other, but to inspire holistic thinking and to ask the question, is this the right way forward? The hope is to shift their mindset from black and white line of thoughts into the gray.”
ORDER “WHAT BECOMES” ON BANDCAMP NOW!
‘What Becomes’ experiments further with the addition of a blazing guitar solo by the incredible Jake Webber, the first time Order Of Owls has collaborated with another artist on a tune. He also features in the music video alongside his daughter Betty who got involved in the shoot and, by chance, the single artwork.
Not content to just expand upon the musical aspects of the band, ‘What Becomes’ features a music video that was filmed at Aradale Lunatic Asylum which is considered to be the most haunted place in Australia. Armed with barely enough resources, what was achieved visually with ‘What Becomes’ was far beyond expectations.
Yannis Koser “Polar Aurora” Released January 26th.
“Polar Aurora” is an invitation to embrace unexpected modulations and abrupt shifts, mirroring the unpredictability of life itself. Spectacular, daring, and utterly groundbreaking, “Polar Aurora” defies norms with audacious atonality, inviting you to experience music not as a mere auditory journey but as a transformational odyssey.
“Inspired by the breathtaking beauty of polar auroras and the profound impact of celestial wonders, this composition is a sonic exploration of the intersection between nature’s grandeur and the human spirit. Each note is a reflection of personal journeys and introspection, translating the awe-inspiring colors of the aurora into a symphony of sound! this track was born from a desire to capture the essence of the natural world’s most mesmerizing phenomenon.”

“This was my favorite song to write in 2023 and the first song I have written after I got completely immersed in a musician named Ren’s music. It really struck an emotional nerve with me so this song was emotional for me. I feel the conduit for my songs – like – they pass through me and it;s hard for me to take credit for writing them.
At first this was a play on words for “smoke your medicine” but it transformed to “Made of Sun” – some people in this world are just made of sun and they are true forces in the world. Ren is one of them – go watch “Hi Ren” on youtube and see/feel true POWER in MUSIC – The full 15 track album with Harry Waters releases on March 29, 2024 and 2 more singles will drop on the way. This album also features some other musical heroes of mine – Nolan Cook, Freddy Parra and Cali Moon Clark!”
