The album of the week is for the selfi-titled debut EP by Asomata. This is 9Albums/EPs You Should Liste To Week 06, 2024, every week I pick 9 albums/EPs recently released by unknown artists that I share with you, I enjoyed all, so I want to invite you to give them a chance and listen to them.

1.- Asomata is a band from Athens, Greece and their name is a trip. The Latin word “asomata” translates in English to the word “incorporeal,” a word used to describe a being that possesses “no material” or “physical” existence. What an awesome band name! It compliments the “vibe” that their Grungy, Alt-Rock sound evokes quite well: mysterious, haunting, and dark at times. They recently released their debut, a self-titled EP, on January 22nd. 2.- French composer and songwriter Anthony Cyr has been releasing music under the moniker T-TAURI since 2021, and now he’s just released a brand-new EP with three songs titled Nueva-Terra. Anthony’s music is its own unique style of synthpop, relying heavily on overdriven synths and steady beats, creating an atmosphere that feels very rich and oniric. He’s use of electronics is an absolutely interesting one, as Anthony utilizes a lot of vocal effects, samples and modulations in his creations. On Nueva-Terra, we get a full narrative and brand-new universe laid out for us, by telling a concise story made up of those three tracks that explore such intricate dynamics and sounds.
3.- CALM. “Dysfunctional Assumptions” In their own words: “Because we genuinely feel that Dysfunctional Assumptions is one of the most honest, intense, musically nutritious and generally killer punk rock releases of the past 10 years. If it weren’t written by us, we’d wish it was.”
4.- Upcoming Swedish/Finnish artist n producer Fredrika Rei brings us her debut EP “less depression, more dancing“. It’s about dreaming, writing and dancing until you’re in a different place than where you started. It’s a collection of the soulful electro pop anthems she has released during the past year, plus crowdpleaser bonus track “think about”.
5.- Cedric D “Blue World” in his own words: “Blue World is an uplifting EP with a light and experimental fun feel to it. It sparks a mood of creation and space and time. That was the goal I had in mind to make something that may sound nostalgic but modern and a little quirky to make it seem new and fresh. Instrumentally the compositions embody jazz elements, electronic effects, vox and soundscapes. Blue World a single from the EP has a new world mind set like visiting a new planet in the TV series Star Trek.”
6.- Lucy Kitchen, known for her haunting folk sound, unveils a deeply personal and evocative musical journey with this intimate collection of live recordings. A sonic tapestry of melancholic melodies, captivating vocals and personal storytelling, this recording marks her first musical project since the loss of her husband to cancer last year. This is “The Stabal Sessions“
7.- The gift | das Gift. The musical representation of the duality of things. “The present” in English means “the poison” in German. Tg/dG have been formed by Artemis Schubert (Luna Dark) in 2023 and they are experimenting with dark alternative sounds.
8.- Bringer Of Light is a TX-based, self-labeled “deathcore-ish project”, though AMERICAN INDUSTRIAL DEATHCORE” is more fit. Anthology II is a continuation of last year’s Anthology I. While last year’s release paid homage to fictional serial killers, Anthology II is instrumental; a blank canvas for the listener to come up with their own deranged fantasies.
9.- In a world saturated with cookie-cutter sounds and manufactured personas, Purple Fly emerges as a breath of fresh air. From the streets of Athens to the bustling scene of London, Purple Fly’s journey is one of resilience and passion. Rooted in the gritty authenticity of urban life, their music speaks to the universal human experience with raw emotion and unfiltered honesty.
