DISCOVERED VIA MUSOSOUP

1.- Quite a title! But then again, “Presents: A Simple Solution to Toxic Masculinity” is not intending to be a simple harmless record, in fact it’s quite the opposite. Your Best Nightmare, a potent singer-songwriter and producer has been exploring the theme of having a vampire lover, who eats toxic masculine people for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the LP is a long-form tale of this blood-soaked dark love story seeking to crack the male-dominant world and to recognise the power women have within. All without the typical “We are powerful” cliches – this is a visceral punk record with blood on the tooth.

2.- The lovely and loveable new wave/synthpop duo Songs for Sabotage has just released Clean Trauma, their much-anticipated sophomore full length. After a successful run of singles, including “Killer”, the record has finally reached our ears and it comes as delightful step for their career. Clean Trauma comes carving a natural path from their earlier sound, found in the debut Nights of Joy and subsequent singles, and this time they sound even bigger, richer and fuller than before. The synths are crystalline, the percussion hits harder and the vocals sound even more saccharine – Clean Trauma elevated everything they’ve made so far into something that feels remarkably flawless.

3.- Whoever says that they have everything under control is a blatant liar. There is no freedom from the tyrannical will of emotions, and Clash Valian’s newest release is a testament to that statement. It’s not something to dread though, rather to embrace, and “Degrees of Freedom” takes the listeners straight into the confusing kaleidoscopic realm in which our fleeting decisions are to be born. Welcome to the essence of being a human – take some time off, grab a good beverage and open your mind to one hell of a journey!

4.- British Indie Rock project, Aleutians, release their wholesome EP “This is all we need”. A 5-track emotional journey that explores the themes of maturing, changing, and the passage of time, as well as making your peace and finding joy with those changes.

5.- Lucio BarbarinoThe Blue Evenings” Lucio’s music is catchy, melodic, soulful, and genuine. Beautiful harmonies are scattered throughout. It’s nostalgic and atmospheric.

6.- “God Laughs: Reflections on the Dark Art of Living for Another Day” is Anomia Report‘s most ambitious – and most personal – work to date. With it, the post- punk quintet, whose members take various roles in the composition, production, and recording process, returns to its roots: crunchy, guitar-driven rock with a vicious sense of humor. Though at its heart, God Laughs is a lamentation on the tragedy of loss, the band fuses sincere emotion, industrial elements, funk grooves, soaring strings, and other-worldy storytelling to produce a compelling record that manages to sound modern and nostalgic at the same time.

7.- Adam (OSTR) Ostrowski and Dan Thurlow have known each other forever. They made music together in the noughties, then Dan gave up and OSTR, already famous in his homeland of Poland, became a superstar. They stayed tight. In 2021 Dan got cancer, it was rough (OSTR had had it a few years earlier), to get through it they started to make music together again, every time Dan went into hospital, he wrote to an OSTR beat.

30 odd songs later Massive Cranes appeared as a fully formed thing. Deep synth and drum led music with honest and raw lyricism. During the recording process Helen Fisher added her delicate, beautiful, broken glass singing voice, writing and piano skills to create an uplifting slice of alternative melancholy that you can dance to. This is their debut album “Monuments”.

8.- Eileen Allway in here own words: “‘Love Water’ is my debut album. I spent the past two years writing/recording/cultivating this record. I spent the years prior to making this album living around the country, some time on the east coast, some time in the south, to return to my hometown on the west coast. The production is deeply influenced and excited by all of these new places; there’s a little taste of each town in the tracks.”

9.- Incremona “Luvabyes” In here own words: “Love + Goodbyes aren’t two compatible words yet LUVABYES shares this pain. This captivating collection of five spontaneous, raw, intimate and heartbreaking lullabies offers an emotive journey perfect to listen to before bed, in times of tears, or amidst the calming embrace of the sea, eyes closed, and the salty breeze. These songs are right for you if you need a hug.”
