Forgotten Garden “In Memoriam” Released March 29th
Forgotten Garden are an Indie band (duo + guests) with dark wave tendencies. Their songs are generally sad, poignant and haunting. Vocals are provided by Inês whilst Danny plays most of the instruments. The “In Memoriam” EP brings together four tracks with the same theme of loss and passing. It is a mixture of different styles as we do try to create something that is a little unusual but still highly listenable!

“This EP ended up speaking about grief: the darkness that arrives with loss and that gets mixed in with the long nights of winter. Part of the songs were sung before I had ever entered this darkness myself. I sang them by trying to empathise with those who had. Then life did that thing where it weaves strange, almost ironic, coincidences, and the songs materialised for me.
However, having them brought me a great deal of comfort during this time: they gave me something beautiful to associate loss with. And for that, I’d like to dedicate these vocal performances to my nan and to my uncle. May you always live in the hearts of those who love you, and now too in these songs. I hope this EP brings that same comfort to others who might need it.”

“Several homeless individuals had taken up residence in the woods behind my house until the police recently cleared them out. While I was working in the garage, I inadvertently left the door open, allowing one of these individuals to sneak inside undetected.
Upon returning from work later that evening, I stumbled upon the unexpected guest—a young woman who appeared to be in a state of panic, unable to communicate in English. To my dismay, she had disassembled my music equipment and guitar pedals, using the components to construct some sort of device. Despite her distress, I attempted to communicate with her using visual aids and my cell phone.
However, when I suggested calling the police, she physically attempted to prevent me from doing so, displaying a surprising proficiency in martial arts. Yielding to her insistence, I refrained from contacting the authorities and instead opted to order pizza, all the while watching her dismantle my electronics.
When she attempted to dismantle my beloved Visitor Parallel MultiModulator guitar pedal, I pleaded with her to spare it, as it held sentimental value to me. Upon demonstrating its functionality with one of my guitars, she became captivated. As I played a simple melody, she spontaneously began to sing, harmonizing beautifully.
In the following months, amidst consuming copious amounts of pizza, we collaborated on electronic projects and eventually constructed what I later realized was a quantum time machine/teleportation device. Due to my inability to pronounce her name correctly, I affectionately dubbed her Fade, a name that stuck.
During this time, Fade rapidly acquired proficiency in English, displaying an insatiable thirst for knowledge. We also indulged in our shared passion for music, recording our collaborative efforts, including the song featured here. Gradually, I pieced together Fade’s extraordinary backstory—she was a quantum time-traveler from an alternate dimension on a mission to save her reality, and inadvertently, ours as well.
Her time with us was merely a brief stop in her journey through time and dimensions. Upon completing her device, she informed me of her imminent departure to embark on the next phase of her mission. Reluctantly, I pleaded with her to stay, but she explained that the stakes were too high, despite the risks to her own survival.
Although we both acknowledged the likelihood of her becoming lost in a recursive loop of time, I accepted her determination and bid her farewell, promising to await her return with more music and pizza. Weeks have passed since Fade’s departure, yet I cling to the hope that she will fulfill her promise to return. Occasionally, I find myself wandering through the woods behind my house, searching for any sign of her presence.”

Shears is the 3rd Single off Aoun’s upcoming album “The Shepherd & All Her Beautiful Sheep,” the single is a slow burn sweeping epic that takes the listener on the journey of accepting the end of a relationship, and looking back on it and seeing it for what it was.
“The entire upcoming album is structured like a story book telling the story of my year with a former lover of mine. This song is the start of the second half of the album and really serves as the beginning of the end of that relationship, the first half of the song being written about a month before the second, with the first half being a far more pining song and the second being a more cathartic release of understanding the true nature of it all.”
