Ellery Twining, a visionary singer-songwriter and producer, has recently released a very ear-catching full-length album “Results”. The album could be described as the world as seen through the eyes of a Gen X child. Now, Ellery welcomes all listeners-viewers to revisit one part of the story, “S.B. Butler” to witness haunting childhood imagery in its new music video.

The song, “S.B. Butler” by Ellery Twining is a fairly eerie reminiscence on events that took place on the childhood town. The place, not yet suburbia, became a scene for the new generation of people growing up through games, increasingly complex relationships and incidents that stuck with them. Along the events, the poignant spoken vocal remembers his friends as well as other kids that joined them to play games. It’s a story of becoming spent developing survival tactics and learning to watch out for oneself, accompanied by fuzzy electric guitar melody and light percussion. And now, it’s accompanied by its own music video.
Released at the beginning of April, the videoclip follows the path in which the thoughtful vocal wanders. We see playgrounds, stairways, basketball fields and the outside of a school canteen, visited by the now grown-up girl reliving through the moments spent in those places as a child. Along with the current era clips, there are photographs and video clips of children partaking in various activities, hazy moments frozen intime.

The contrast of now-suburbian present day with now abandoned school, and the memories of what took place in these places back intime provides loads of nostalgia. The bittersweet memories of fights, injuries, victories, arguments and losses shaped the persons involved to be who they are today, and this music video stands as a bold testament on the foundational moments in childhood. What is mostly seen as a worriless time by adults in general, actually carries lots of weight.
