paul cafcae “banks of marble” released may 10th
Paul Cafcae release his lead single, “Banks of Marble” from his upcoming 5th album that has been in the works for the past year. The single was inspired by the growing inequality and lack of democratic agency for the people of Canada and draws on historical folk influences from Eastern Europe and North America alike, all while highlighting the talents of Cafcae’s bandmates and collaborators.

The idea of the song came to Paul as he witnessed the working and living conditions of people in Ontario, Canada degrade in the second decade of the 21st century. “The pronounced inequality in the levels of democratic agency between the people and their employers has been troubling me for years,” says Cafcae. “I believe that we need more unions if we want things to get better.”
DREAD FURY “SINNER’S BANQUET” RELEASED MAY 10TH
Dread Fury is a one man band project created by Graeme Browne. He is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist/musician who plays guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, harmonica and percussion.
“Sinner’s Banquet was inspired by the theme of the upcoming album, which is about spiritual and social redemption. As part of the narrative, Sinner’s Banquet is basically God having a chat with the protagonist. God is sharing all the pitfalls and problems with the banquet, which the protagonist had attended earlier without realising what it was really about. On the surface it looks great and everyone seems great. But deep down, it is a horrible place with horrible people – a lesson the protagonist has learned to his detriment.”

“I recorded the track in my house. The music came from a solo rehearsal where I used my loop pedal and created this funky groove so I recorded a rough version on my phone. Then I laid it down properly, playing all the instruments, getting the lyrics and then mixing it all. It was all done really quickly. When I played it live, I knew I had something as the response was very positive and I realized this was definitely a single.”
“First-time listeners can expect eclectic music with groove and soul. I’m about creativity, both lyrically and musically. I like to tell stories and I like people to think about what is being said as well as being able to dance as well. Don’t expect pop hits – expect creativity in full force.”
skycall “wendy” released may 10th
In 2019 Luc Erwin and Fabrice Duval (former members of Tax Free) and Didier Hoffmann (drums subsequently replaced in 2020 by Amanda S.) formed SkyCall. The band split in 2023 so that everyone could pursue their personal projects. Fabrice Duval is therefore continuing SkyCall’s initial project–namely recording a complete album of original tunes–excited for what’s next as the future LP (including 9 tracks) is currently in the mastering phase.

Lyrically this song tells the story of Wendy, whose life is made of disillusionment and broken dreams; she forgets herself in artificial paradises before suddenly returning to reality when the effects wear off. The message is far from being pessimistic since we always have the choice: if she wants and agree to be helped, Wendy has within her all the strength that can help her to rebuild herself and finally live her life to make it a masterpiece.
norine braun “adoption” released May 03rd
Canadian singer-songwriter Norine Braun continues her transformative musical journey with the release of her fourth single, “Adoption.” The upcoming track is part of her highly anticipated album, “Journey Toward Wholeness,” set to be unveiled May 24, 2024.
“As an adoptee I faced a common lifelong struggle to form an authentic sense of self that growing up away from a bloodline can foster. There is a symbolic and literal search for roots that became a crucial part of my journey toward wholeness. Early in my adult life I had to reconcile I may never know the story of my origin or who my ancestors are. But somehow I felt they knew who I was and this gave me comfort. As an adoptee we have many questions about who we are and where we came from. This song explores those questions and feelings of becoming and finding the breadth of an adoptee’s true self.” Norine Braun

The song it’s the story of a rather whimsical girl called Sally. A young woman in love with life, very eccentric, on whom time never has a grip. Always very cool, never punctual, she has the gift of irritating those around her who are always waiting for her. Sally is a symbol of freedom. She never lets anyone or anything dictate her life. She doesn’t care about schedules or agendas. She lives her life as she sees fit.
She lives one day at a time, without wondering what tomorrow will bring. She’s a child who has never accepted the codes of the adult world to grow up. She lives by night and sleeps by day, and sometimes viceversa. Can night and day be dissociated in her life? She doesn’t care, all she wants is to be left in peace, and if we’re always in a hurry, Sally lives on borrowed time, extending hours and minutes as she pleases.

“This text was inspired by my daughters (18 and 20) and their friends. I’m often dependent on their schedules and spend my time waiting for them. They get all dolled up when it’s time to go out, and any excuse is good enough to justify their lateness. But above all, it’s an ode to the independence of women, young girls and new mothers who have to manage their career, love life, family life and social life all at the same time.
