US-based singer-songwriter Garland Kelley is ready to drop his newest song titled “The Waters of Galilee”. Inspired by the human condition and that inherent desire for mythical stories, Kelley’s new single is an emotional, dreamy story where mythical realm meets life. The result is a chilling acoustic folk song with poetic lyrics of someone in search for the meaning behind it all.

Life runs often beyond what could be explained reasonably, and when one is far from home out in the wild, stories of mythical entities somehow keep the mind intact. “The Waters of Galilee” takes place in a stormy night out at sea, where the untamed violent nature goes against the willpower of humans in a vessel. In these times, the humans huddle under the roof of melancholic guitar melodies, remembering calmer times and the feeling of solid home ground under their feet.
For the time being, however, they’re in the middle of a storm with a cause embedded deep in mythology. Kelley’s vocals speak of the events in a somber tone looking for hope to anchor to, while the surrounding misty acoustic guitar creates a visual of rampant nature given a mythical personality by people stuck in the storm. Garland Kelley lives in Nashville, where he has been performing in local venues for more than 15 years. Kelley finds inspiration from many places, but his main influence is music from 50s and 60s. He has been releasing a string of self-produced singles under his name from the beginning of 2023.
