Perfection, does that even exist in this world of imperfections that we live in? That inherently essay-worthy topic has been taken on by Carpe Diem, and while this duo don’t write essays or novels, they write music and lyrics. And for this theme, they have created “Ne Plus Ultra”, the Perfect Point. It’s a single, and it’s out now!
In search for the unreachable, Carpe Diem embarks on a journey through delicate alt-rock soundscapes generating colorful visuals. Ada’s vocals take the form of some kind of deity, as electric guitars and piano melodies come together to form the backdrop for the seeker of perfection. During the journey, other, more important things come to light as discussed in the chorus – “We are all alchemists seeking an alkahest, it’s hard to imagine the beauty of imperfection.” Through this comes the reality of life in which we’ll never truly achieve the ideal. But we’ll also never be too far from it either.
This journey comes along with a kaleidoscopic music video depicting vast church halls with stained glass windows, shifting in shape and color as the viewer walks through them. Stars shine through the colorful warped bits of glass, illuminating the path through those beautiful AI-powered scenery. Check out the video below:
