After a string of highly impressive singles that spammed the last two years, our wunderkind Edie Yvonne gears up for the release of her proper debut EP Girl Code. The Los Angeles-based rising star shared with us TWO BRAND-NEW TRACKS IN THIS EP, “2U”, THAT comes as a sweet punch in the guts, AND “DUH”.
The 15-year-old indie artist has produced the EP alongside long time collaborators Nicky Swedin and Cormac Liotta, and the latest installment “2U” continues her winning streak. The song comes with the power of a true teenage angst anthem, backed by powerful pop punk riffs and crystal-clear vocals that soar through the distortion as Edie stands tall at the centre of the storm.
Edie has already blown our minds with her intense and vulnerable songwriting and quick wit, as well as her ability to deliver heartfelt emo ballads with the same passionate power. Her latest track “2U” clocks in just over one and a half minutes, making this her shortest endeavor yet. It’s amazing how much heat she can pack on such a short track, as this nugget of a song is an audacious and precious gem that sounds polished, truthful and fun every step of the way.
The young singer and songwriter has nothing else to prove to anyone, as she just keeps getting better and better at this. The new single “2U” makes Edie shine with fearless courage as her artistic ambitions take the shape and form of a mature and seasoned performer, and it’s wonderful to see this growth firsthand.
Girl Code is out now in the same week our girl starts high school and is set to perform at the legendary Los Angeles club The Mint – but even with such a busy week ahead of her, Edie has no plans of slowing down. The singer and songwriter has already announced another series of songs to be released in the fall and I particularly cannot wait to see where she will go from here.
