The vocals are delivered with strength which helps in making the lyrics have an impact no matter how simple they might seem on the surface. This same strength reminds us of the raw energy of early punk while also keeping the timbre of early classic rock. The repetition of the initial words and title of the song before each line really hits the nail on the head while delivering the vocals throughout the entire song.
This is coupled with a guitar riff that simultaneously sounds like the riffs to doom metal and stoner metal riffs but sped up, so they are not quite punk rock but something even more exciting. The hybrid sound of the guitar riffs gives the feel of power chord strumming while adding a bit of palm-muted open minor chord elements, which will grow on you the more you listen to the track.
And if you thought it was interesting already you’d be pleased to know that even the percussions of the song deserve multiple listenings to appreciate the nuances of. Since the drummer keeps using different kinds of linear rolls to end each section the track will have you second-guessing what new roll will come and the end of every two lines. The drums and guitar truly shine whenever there is a vocal break and the instrumental sections start, this occurs multiple times throughout the song and it really helps you marinate on the raw sonic soundscape that the track offers.
Overall “People Are” is a high-energy song that will have you tapping your foot and banging your head from the raw sound that Aggressive Soccer Moms deliver so listen if you enjoy the heavier music.
