The darkness Fiona Amaka’s heartfelt single “In Club” seeks to evaporate is the turmoil stemming from being left out of a group. The single, however, refuses to let this define her, and instead finds new strength in being an independent and strong person. “In Club” is a self-empowering anthem that speaks out for all those that don’t fit other people’s expectations.
Rising from the dust of rejection, “In Club” slowly, but surely finds its footing once again, and through the melancholic guitar melodies and Fiona’s poignant voice, the story of resilience unveils itself. And although it hurts to be left out, a realization comes through, one about being able to grow as a person free of boundaries set by others.
Sadness now replaced by still a melancholic tone of a person witnessing the shallowness of other people she thought would be open-minded and friendly, the song now moves on to learning how to build oneself up as an independent person and healing from being rejected by people. Caressing melodies find their way to hope and better future, and the person has been given, through being left out, freedom from being sufficient for people, who in the end don’t matter.

Fiona Amaka, hailing from London, is a singer-songwriter with a knack for poignant, heart-felt lyricism and a powerful, emotional voice. For this single, she joined forces with Andy Zanini, a producer and session guitarist, and the duo gave “In Club” its strength to go out and shatter the despair of people not fitting into a community, and to give them strength to hold on and find their own people.
