This December, Clare Easdown concentrates on the wellbeing of people with mental illnesses. Her newly released single “The System Needs a REVAMP” addresses the still-so-glaring issues in healthcare focusing on mental health and implores to find better, long-lasting improvements to make suffering people’s lives better.

Clare’s message to better the lives of people suffering from invisible yet disabling illnesses comes in the shape of a potent ballad, where echoing melodies flow hand-in-hand with layered vocals. It’s coming from a dark place of no hope left, and the system needs reconfiguration to make it more beneficial for mental healthcare.

Pleading vocals echo through vast atmospheres, where dark muffled drums provide a thundery undertone to the already dark place. Stretched-out phrases give immediacy to the pleas to do something now rather than later, as people’s wellbeing depends on a functional system.
The single comes along with a music video, which drives the message further home from a visual side. Clips of abandoned hospital facilities are overlayed by Clare’s singing face, and colored in eerily grayed saturated tones resembling distortion and decay. Check out the video below:
Clare Easdown is an Australian singer-songwriter on a mission to better the world we live in through thought-provoking poignant lyricism and captivating indie sounds. In the local music scene, she is often found performing in small venues or busking in the streets. When Clare is not performing, however, she finds time to make new music and finds new methods by overcoming limitations.
As Clare was recording vocals for this single, she found that the car turned out to be the best soundproofing device to sing in, giving crisp vocals. This car now has two uses.
Hopefully mental health issues will shed the stigma and lends a helping hand rather than label people simply insane, or worse, faking it.
