Indie rock and americana trio Onism E are back with “Call You Home”, their first single of the year and first track since 2023’s “I’m Sorry”. The band hails from Texas in the United States, led by talented musician Eline Chavez, and make their music rooted in authentic storytelling influenced by legends like Brandi Carlile and Chrissie Hynde. On new song “Call You Home” the trio crafts a narrative that surrounds the ongoing decline in respect and common decency that is spreading all throughout the modern day world.

The sounds navigated by Onism E encompass a wide variety of inspirations, and “Call You Home” is a masterful blend of americana and country melodies with new wave guitars and sincere vocals. Eline’s voice oozes authentic emotions going from frustration to sympathy in the blink of an eye, emphasizing the concept of “home” as she pleads for a better and kinder world. There is a certain loneliness to the lyricism too, highlighting the isolating feeling that creeps into your mind when thinking about such a topic as the state we are living in.

With dynamic turns and wonderful production, “Call You Home” is a product of intense collaborative effort. “This was creative process powered by everyone in the room,” Eline says about the recording of the track. The melody-driven “Call You Home” marks, in fact, several beginnings for them and that culminates into a concrete synergy that seems funnelled by the want of showing a brand new side to their work. “This was our first trip to the studio as a band and you can feel the energy in the song”, she concludes. “Call You Home” stands as the trio’s mellower track so far, one that really goes in deep for their americana roots in a refreshing and unique way.
The track is accompanied by a beautiful music video that truly evokes that sense of reflective loneliness, showing gorgeous natural landscapes as well as man-made ones. In both of them the feelings of isolation and uneasiness so expertly portrayed in the lyrics find themselves as a form of graceful solitude with hopeful wander. Eline has a peculiar way of delivering such ideas and emotions in a way that even the desperation feels temporary, like she herself believes that this current state is ephemeral and not definitive.
No one wants to live in a world devoied of decenty and empathy, but that is the road we’re in weather we realise that or not. Onism E takes a stand against that notion with introspective musings that aim to appeal to the listener’s own emotional journey. “Call You Home” is a midtempo ballad that raises those questions but leaves the answers up in the air for interpretation, and you can’t help but reconsider your own attitudes towards others when Eline’s raspy vocals beg “Can I call you home?“. It’s powerful stuff, really, and and incredible comeback for the trio to say the least.
