John Goldrust has just released a new song this Friday, March 7th. Titled “Rainbows & Rivers Meditations One”, it’s a tune that strays from the artist’s usual songwriting process, and the result is an open-hearted glimpse of a soul, passing by like a fleeting ray of light.
On first glance, “Rainbows & Rivers Meditations One” is a guitar solo playing along with backing music. Careful listening reveals a story embedded within, which the guitar’s delicate melodies play out with clarity.
Most critical listeners have noticed that music, popular music specifically, is getting simpler as years go by. The story told by the guitar solo was also founded on this notion, as it dives into the nature of music theory, a wide nuanceful world only a fraction is used from in popular music. John’s explorations in music theory went down a mathematical tangent, similarly to how Bach composed music. The artist does this on his own terms, however, looking into writing something completely new.
Music theory has been around for eons and offers and answer to basically all musical questions. But it’s not as flexible, John Goldrust noticed, as music is a language in itself and the rules don’t allow for natural evolution similarly to spoken languages. His explorations took him into tuning more natural for human ears (432Hz) and exploring new methods, that could open a direct pathway to human consciousness.
“Rainbows & Rivers Meditations One” is part of John Goldrust’s ongoing project, also titled “Rainbows & Rivers”. It consists of instrumentals sharing similar composition and recording methods to this new single, and there’s already quite a few new ones lined up for released. Stay tuned!
