Florent Lelong’s Fantastic debut album “Constellations” is finally here

FLORENT LELONG ARTICLE COVER

This Friday, February 28th, Florent Lelong releases his newest body of work, a full-length DEBUT album titled “Constellations”. As suggested by the album name as well as the tracklist, this is an outer-space experience. Not necessarily about mankind entering space, but a personal journey far out into the ethereal space within us.

Much like the individual constellations, the tracks named after them are all of unique color, coming together to form a long-form cohesive journey through the rich colorful realm. For this, Florent Lelong has combined elements from multiple different genres into making an individual song, giving every tune a different sound and, as a result, feeling.

When the single “Orion” was a joyful ride through the merriest of colors, “Gemini” is a more thoughtful and sounds like the night, fully equipped to find the magic in the dark. Stargazing moods of “Cygnus” meet the mystery-veiled disco beat of “Draco”. The key is not to rush with anything, but let the sound evolve slowly, like a massive object would slowly turn to show its unseen sides as you go past it. In space everything is massive.

The journey is purely instrumental, free from the inherent boundaries set by words. Instead of clear-cut situations, the album allows for free explorations within its diverse soundscapes. Florent Lelong intends listeners to form their own stories developing in the realms built by the songs. Its immersive and pure setting also proves to be a very pleasing listening experience in terms of sensory input.

When creating the album, Florent Lelong was largely inspired by how people in ancient times and nowadays look up into starry skies and see creatures of all kinds formed by the stars. By combining a wide array of different music genres, the aim is to make a similarly rich ground for imagination to run wild. A slow pace included “Constellations” is an enjoyable album, best experienced in the dark when the stars shine the brightest.

Listen to the album now and you may find your mundane worries, suddenly get left behind.
