LTB’s newest release “Further Than a Memory” brings the listeners into the life of a man living through the aftermath of a sudden breakup. Through soulful poetry blended with smooth modern hiphop, the shards of a violently shattered heart turn visible as the loveless world around him grows cold.
In an ideal world, the love that comes along will stay around to be a certain part of one’s life. Alas, the reality in which we live and this single grew from is far from ideal, and love can vanish as suddenly as it arrived. For the man, this love felt so certain and life plans were already lined out with the supposed lifelong partner. But things went otherwise and love has left behind that quiet deep sadness, from which the song’s melodies and haunting vocals arise.
Things that were supposed to be are now just a convulsion of a memory with no closure. Echoing the phrase “supposed to be”, the song reveals what’s basically an emotional warzone. Those sweet memories of a person’s features once present every day and now long gone, hang in the air as a bitter reminder of what could’ve been, if this breakup never happened. The broken heart still refuses to let go after all this time, hoping things will return to what they once were. That silence of regret and endless questions remains a torturous prison.
LTB is a producer, whose desire is to tell stories in a way that connects deeply with his audience. His tools of trade, namely a blend of electronica running through elements of pop, soul, RNB and hip-hop sensibilities, haunting caressing voice and eloquent, descriptive lyrics, make for an evocative, thought-provoking listening experience. Emotions are felt with clarity and usually hidden and private thoughts given a platform to be heard on. When you’re suffering in silence, best be sure to listen to some LTB instead.
