Spring has arrived and with it has arrived the seasonal wonder in Japan, the inspiration behind Carpe Diem’ new song “Sakura Fubuki”. Thousands of Sakura cherries are in full bloom and offering a spectacle of a lifetime with the dense rain of gentle pink.Carpe Diem sees fleeting moments of life in the falling petals and “Sakura Fubuki” reminds to stay in the moment to enjoy the fleeting moments of life.
“Sakura Fubuki” translates as the flurry of Sakura petals in Japanese, and the single brings that magical, silky pink rain into music with a finger-drummed rhythm, gentle melodies, and a flute sound. It’s the sound of spring and the surge of life it brings within, but it also embodies how easy it is to miss those moments due to their shortlived nature.
Springtime wind carries the unmistakable warmth of budging life, and in the single it’s part is played by the youthful flute. The petals of Sakura are extremely tender and will get carried away by the slightest gust of wind, and the air will be full of swirling petals whenever wind comes to play again. Birdsong and piano melodies representing the falling petals surround crystal clear vocals singing in Japanese about the spectacle and what it represents for the Japanese people.
The flurry of pink is also well represented in the single’s music video featuring imagery of pink-veiled Japanese gardens and characters playing instruments heard in the song. Watch the video below!
