Today on April 25th, Cris Cap is dropping a new EP titled “Gone Too Soon”. It’s home to three tracks, which together create a concentrated capsule of life – from love to loss, potent and youthful to somber and looking for hope. “Gone Too Soon” is a little autobiographical work with universal themes that will resonate with listeners.
Of the three songs, two have already been released as singles – a tale of a teenager looking for love titled “Young Gun”, and “Live Like My Cat”, a fun and loving tune looking into the luxurious life of the artist’s beloved cat. The former song carries that unmistakable, fairly intense energy of a teenager with a heart full of love and concentrates on keeping up hope in finding that one and only. The smooth jazz rock tune for the cat takes a humorous glance and expresses slight jealousy of the cat’s opportunity to chill 24/7 and still look so cute.

Now when it comes to the third track, it comes along with the album and carries the EP’s title. It’s the most somber song of the release as it was written as a farewell to a friend, who died unexpectedly and way too soon. Written in the style of a slow-paced and thoughtful R&B ballad with melodies echoing the tear-drenched vast void left by the friend, the song slowly walks through the memories created together, and the young man’s infectious laughter and passion. The lyrics of a heavy heart filled with grief are given an angelic glow by vocalist Tyla Raé.
Prior to his passing, the friend had rediscovered his passion for music and would often play Cris Cap’s piano with a whole lot of joy. This memory still resonates and has found a place in the song’s music video, where a man in a light, heavenly suit is seen playing the piano. Clips of quiet and serene places change throughout the clip, now much emptier than in those days before. In the quiet, there is still a presence of hope walking down the alley of memories.
Cris Cap is a German artist and composer who bridges meaningful stories with captivating sound, blending notes of nostalgia and present times. His journey as a musician has been accompanied by a trusty friend, a Fender Rhodes MK1 piano, and this instrument remains a key figure in writing music. 2025 promises to be a busy year for Cris Cap – keep your ears peeled!
