On May 15th, Michelle Lockey is ready to release her newest piece – an acoustic single full of heart and honest thoughts carrying the title “Dig Deeper”. As the title suggests, it’s a story of almost giving up the pursuit. A little voice from the inside, however, encourages to carry on, and “Dig Deeper” is a resulting tale of not giving up no matter how hopeless it seems. This song of hope and resilience comes at a time of great uncertainty and speaks of surviving a time in one’s life when everything seems hopeless. But instead of letting go and walking off, the inkling of hope urges not to do it. This same inkling gives the song that living spark to drive the pursuit further. Michelle Lockey’s vocals carry the same lively note as she describes that driving force living inside.
Working one’s way through a hard time is not a straight path, and “Dig Deeper” shows that with moments of cheerful changing with times of increased self-doubt and burnt-out state of mind. An inner knowledge saying “this, too, shall pass”, keeps the rhythm going though, and helps to emerge into the light from a dark place.
“Dig Deeper” was co-created with a long-time collaborator and multi-instrumentalist, Stephen Joseph Antonelli, and the vocals were recorded in just one single take. This has resulted in all emotions staying encapsulated in their raw, stripped nature. The song will be part of an upcoming album, where Michelle explores the ebbs and flows of life, happy and sad times going hand-in-hand
