This Friday on May 16, ProntaCorde returns with a single full of love for breakbeat and b-boys. Rooted in the era of breakdance battles, the song contains everything a proper hiphop tune requires – raw energy, infectious beat and a whole lot of swagger, a dream b-boy track made in celebration of hiphop culture.
With inspiration flowing in from the greats of old school hiphop, namely Beastie Boys, ProntaCorde channeled that hugely inspiring energy into a song with a modern twist in production giving it an undeniably fresh feel. There is not a single dull moment to be found, instead there’s multiple MC’s going back and forth, as well as fairly intoxicating brass and breaks.
Like a proper dance beat, the nostalgia-showered single grows in intensity to urge all the b-boys and b-girls to get down harder. More powerful beat sections come in with an increasing feel of fun in unity. Twangy guitars, vinyl scratches, and twirling string arpeggios rush together for a whole lot of good time, bringing back the spirit of b-boy battles and finessing new moves.
Mexico City, where ProntaCorde lives, is famous for its cultural diversity, including music and hip-hop culture, with its unique flavor being part of it. The artist himself, Jose-Alberto Gallegos, brings a plethora of inspirations together into soulful electronica featuring sprinkles from other genres. He is joined by Abraham Madera, who handles mixing and mastering, and the duo is keen on bridging the timeless classic and the fresh perspective.
Hiphop and breakbeat in particular has sparked creative flow in the duo, and their love for the greats like Groove Armada, Grandmaster Flash, Run-DMC and Chemical Brothers can be heard in the duo’s own infectious grooves.
