Following the release of the celebratory “The Way You Make Me Feel” last February, English indie rock quartet RISE is back with new single “Dreams”. On their new track the band continues their collaboration with bassist and vocalist Sam Kinley and offers a positive outlook on life’s possibilities. Centered around a hopeful tomorrow, RISE delivers an infecciously upbeat song that merges big sounds with impeccable synths.
“Dreams” shows the Liverpool-based act going for the brighter side of new wave and focusing on electronic sound waves that feel aglow and deliciously optimistic. Written by Paul Kinley, their new single stands as a highlight among their discography and shows a band taking interesting steps that are refreshing while still wholehartedly dedicated to pushing their striking sound into new directions.
As suggested by its title, the new track talks about hopes and aspirations through a positive lens and delivers an impeccable melody-driven track. Radiating the same energy from Blondie’s seminal “Dreaming”, RISE’s new single sounds bigger and shinier than anything they’ve done so far, perfectly blending new wave sensibility with the grandiose that comes from 80s pop-rock influences. It’s a lush and elegant track, filled with adventurous vocal performances and harmonies that give it an epic feeling of outstanding eagerness.

Beautifully recorded at the legendary Whitewood Studios and produced by Rob Whiteley, the song relies on a feeling of unwavering determination to make things better to the best of our abilities. It carries an overarching, powerful message of optimism in the face of daily struggles, showing a band at their most dynamic sonically and delivering heartfelt lyricism. And it does its job well; listening to this song makes you feel like anything is possible.
These guys are no strangers to a glass-half-full approach to their music, and “Dreams” is a prime example of them at their very best. Accompanied by a lyric video that perfectly illustrates their meaning and intent by giving us bright lights constantly moving upwards, this is a song of ascension. Serving as a reminder that life can be good and everything is possible, these guys created a zealous track that feels like the most splendid soundtrack to moments of change and realization.
