This may on 23rd, Chucky Trading Co is set to release their newest body of work, their second full-length album “A Sky of Hopes”. Inspired by life’s tragedies and joys, the album’s whimsical and poetic nature finds a touching and relatable way to tell stories in a way that leave a strong impact.

Similarly to the first full-length, the new release continues blending classic acoustic sound with today’s production methods. In comparison to the debut, this one has found great joy in experimenting more with vocal arrangements and rhythms, finding ways to make the stories more vivid.
When it comes to stories, there are 11 little chapters on the record, ranging from humorous and lighthearted to serious and poignant. Individual themes are surrounded by melodies and musical elements reflecting the mood of the song; for instance, “Make Your Own Sunshine” stands out as inspiring and uplifting from the very start with its joyful melodic arrangements and elevated vocals.
“Charly’s Alone” forms a strong contrast mood-wise, as the song follows the footsteps of a despondent woman going through some very dark times. Inside, a search for hope and comfort ensues as cello plays its solemn line. Another tale of a darker side is brought by “Blood Diamond”, a theatrical song of a really dysfunctional relationship, where one side destroys the other and eclipses the light from them
There’s place for soothing moments, like “Saturday Waltz” with its nostalgic and longing sound wishing for the loved one to be there. A lot of attention has been given to life’s indescribable moments through cinematic elements and bits of deeply embedded electronica. The title track finishing the release is an instrumental piece soaring through the skies reaching places unforeseen before, describing the carrying wind of hope.
The duet we listen to on the record belongs to the brother-sister duo running Chucky Trading Co. The sibling pair, namely CS Taber and Patricia “Danger” Taber, have been immersed in music from a variety of cultures since childhood, and their sound combines the sweetly deceptive simplicity of folk, rock, and pop with modern production methods, coupled with lyrics inspired by the unrivaled rawness of beat poets. The result is beautifully made music, thought-provoking and highly enjoyable. “The Sky of Hopes” is no exception to this.
