Shortly after the completion and release of his latest album The Mind and Echoes back in 2023, american artist Micheal Fordays got straight into working on its followup. After a series of singles going from “The Stones Never Move” to “To All“, Micheal is finally ready to give them all a home in the form of The Odds of Magic showing artistic growth both in music as well as lyricism.

Taking inspiration from his own The Mind and Echoes, with the goal of elevating his songwriting, recording and production skills – and he definitely managed to accomplish all that. The Odds of Magic continues to explore the alternative rock soundscapes of his previous record while taking everything to the next level through elegant yet gritty production, and more personal lyrics that give it heart and soul. A reflection on his own artistic evolution, his latest effort brings forth his best work to date filled with melody-driven tracks, sharp angles and vulnerable musings.
Co-produced alongside long-time collaborator Dave Klein, Micheal stands his ground as he tried to grasp on the meaning of life, his own experiences, hopes and fears. Such reflective themes are more evident than ever on highlight “To All”, also the heavier-sounding and more DIY punk track on the record. Culminating into a powerful message of forgiveness and acceptance with fiery music surrounding it, “To All” stands as the emotional centerpiece of The Odds of Magic and its most cathartic moment.
On the nine tracks that compose the record we see Micheal trying out interesting and refreshing approaches to music production and songwriting, like the hypnotic magnetism of the title track or how crystalline the power pop of “Here at the Gates” feels. Aiming for excellence at every chord and line, Micheal created an outstanding album that pieces together every single experiment he’s crafted over the past few years into a cohesive and stunning collection.
