Our favourite british rocktimist Chandra Nair is back with a brand-new track from his self-titled pop rock project Chadra. “Just With You” arrives a little short of two months after the latest “Winners” and it comes alongside a refreshing shift in perspective and production from the Bristol-based trio.

Their new effort stands out with a beautiful rock ballad atmosphere, textured by light synths and guitar riffs that give it a romantic and nostalgic feeling. The introspective lyrics tell a moving tale of remembrance shrouded in uplifting sentiments that ultimately culminate with the soul-bearing honesty of its simple and effective chorus: “Here’s a glimpse into what makes my soul, I want to share it just with you“.
The yearning and longing are very much present, but Chandra gives it an incredibly hopeful spin. “Just With You” is about sharing your own vulnerabilities, preferences, and thoughts with someone else in order to bring you closer, and it works. The guitars are big and reminiscent of 80s pop rock, the percussion is steady, and there is a raw feeling of both catharsis and resolution to “Just With You”.
On their new single Chandra exposes a new side of themselves, creating a track that still feels on brand with their optimism but exploring the nuance of everyday life with it. It’s a beautifully written track that feels real like the moments in which you find yourself sharing details of your life and memories to someone new. It’s exciting and hopeful but it’s always a risk – and that is perfectly explored by Chandra on this track.
He sings about how much he wants to share his life, but we never get a response or any sign of what will happen next. The open-ended lyricism makes the track even more impactful because the only thing more powerful than hope is possibility. “Just With You” is a track about those possibilities and the hope that comes with it at every new turn. It’s an incredible song that also opens up entire new realms for them as a band to explore and new ways for them to spread the uplifting hopefulness they are known for, but this time tinged with realism. And it’s so good.
