Led by Danny and Jason Williams, SonicNeuron is a creative collective running on originality and innovation through an AI-powered vision. Blurred Borders is their debut MUSIC VIDEO ALBUM, RELEASED ON JULY 01ST, FEATURING six tracks, each paired with its own visuals, highlighting the possibilities of AI in the music industry. Blurred Borders opens with “Shadow to Light”, an epic and grandiose pop track filled with uplifting choirs and a compelling narrative. The track’s cinematic atmosphere is only matched by its vibrant music video, portraying a samurai boldly leading his army into battle and coming out victorious on the other side. Driven by 2000s-era pop songs and reminiscent of acts such as Bastille, “Shadow to Light” excels in creating its entire universe from scratch and inviting you in.
Showcasing a wide variety of inspirations and references, the next track, “Danzar en la Luz”, is entirely sung in Spanish and features a warm Latin flair. The melodic nature of the song sparks unwavering joy and a sense of belonging, much appreciated, with a simple but effective video that is inviting and impressive with its colorful scenes.
On “Little Wonders”, on the other hand, the mood shifts once again to a lovely indie pop with R&B influences that celebrates the small significant moments in life, illustrated by its miniature-style visuals and cozy atmosphere.
The lullaby “Dreams” explores the unbreakable bond between mothers and their children across several cultural backgrounds, providing comforting melodies that offer a place of love and safety to soothe you into a goodnight.
“Quantum” follows it with a macro and maximalist vision of the universe and the life of all things, navigating through the serenity of wildlife and giving nature itself a spot to shine. From butterflies and droplets of water to the infinity of the cosmos itself, “Quantum” is a shimmering track that really relies on softness and the cyclical nature of life.
The EP ends on the gentle synth pop/chillwave inspirations of “Midnight Drive”, accompanied by neon-lit visuals that feel surreal with cyberpunk and futuristic references that tie up the record together very nicely. SonicNeuron overall delivers an impressive EP that overflows with ideas and creativity, challenging our very relationship with technology without over losing sight of what’s real and organic. Even though everything is AI-generated, none of it would be possible without the producers’s real life expertise that adds depth and enhances each track into its own experience.
Blurred Borders offers a world of infinite possibilities made possible through human emotions and connections that is bold and experimental, while never getting overwhelming at any point.
